You’ll always work with sharp cutting edges, even if you have an unfortunate run-in in the middle of your slab…just remove the screw, spin the insert 90°, and get right back to work. This nifty piece of engineering comes from our friends at Amana Tool, leaders in insert tooling design. If you are using this to flatten hardwoods, it is highly recommended that you purchase the replacement DLC cutters.

Amana’s insert spoilboard router bit with scorers features a unique 2+2 knife design containing two cutting flutes and two up-shear scorers. In man-made materials you get a smoother finish at the bottom of the cut than traditional two-knife style router bits. In solid wood, you may remove the bottom scoring blades, but in certain grain patterns they tone down tear-out.
This bit is 1-1/2″ diameter, with ½” cutting height. It is only available in ½” shank
The replacement inserts are a finer grade specifically available for solid wood. They have a diamond-like carbon (DLC) nanocomposite coating that has unique properties of natural diamond…low friction, high hardness and high corrosion resistance.
