The meter features the ability to correct for changes in temperature, making it easy to take readings in room-temperature environments or the extreme heat of a kiln. The meter’s ability to correct for 48 wood species also makes it ideal for working with a variety of wood types.

This meter works quickly to warn you of problem moisture levels, helping to minimize defects such as shrinkage, cracks, and splits in your projects. Its LCD screen displays easy-to-read, accurate results. The meter averages up to 99 accumulated readings, giving you a big-picture view of your current job.  The Delmhorst J-2000 gauges moisture from 6 to 40 percent–measuring from dry conditions (ideal for fine furniture) to the fiber saturation point (about 24 to 30 percent). The large range means the meter can be used in high-humidity and low-humidity climates.

Pin-Type Meter with Electrode Connector Delivers Superior Results
The Delmhorst J-2000’s pin-type meter uses two pins that penetrate wood to a depth of up to 5/16 inch. Pin-type meters provide more accurate readings than non-penetrating meters because their tips come into direct contact with the wood fiber. If you ever deal with wood that has been exposed to surface moisture such as rain, a pin meter is the best measurement tool because its readings are not skewed by this factor. Plus, the Delmhorst J-2000 is equipped with a special connector for the Delmhorst 26-ES external electrode (sold separately), which allows you to take surface and core moisture content readings to a maximum depth of 1-1/16 inch.

Available Accessories:

1849 Pins
An alternate to the 496 pin for the 26-ES, the 1849 is a 1-1/2” insulated pin with 1/2″ penetration. The 1849 is suitable for wood up to 2″ thick.

2497-A-100 Pins
Uninsulated pin and retainer with 5/16″ penetration. Standard on all meters with built-in pins. Used on wood up to 6/4 (1-1/2”), concrete and gypsum.

496 Pins
496 contact pins are insulated except at the tips, and measure 2″ overall with 1-1/8″ penetration. Standard on the 26-ES, and can be used to check wood up to 5″ thick.

22-E Electrode for 7/16” Pins
Comes with A-111 uninsulated contact pins for 7/16″ penetration. For use on plaster, masonry, and wood. Will also accept 496, insulated pins; 1-1/16” penetration. 

26-ES Slide Hammer Electrode
Easily check high density hardwood that short pins are unable to penetrate. The 496 contact pins that come with the 26-ES penetrate 1-1/8” and have insulated shanks so that only the tips are exposed. The pins make contact only at their uncoated tips and provide much more accurate readings of moisture content at various levels of penetration. This feature is useful for a variety of different applications.
